I like to always mail my jewelry with a little handmade jewelry bag along with instructions on how to take care of their new found Keepsake Treasure. So here are some very quick and easy instructions."
How to make a drawstring bag for jewelry.
Materials: 1/4 yard of fabric
2/3 yard of ribbon (about 20" long)
a blunt end needle (I use a large Tapestry needle)
Step one:
Cut fabric - 6"x 7" (or desired size) and iron.
Step two: Make a 1" hem on long side (this will be the opening of bag). I use a zigzag or decorative stitch along the raw edge or you can fold 1/8". After the hem then make a 1/4 inch casing (2 rows of straight stitching 1/4 inch apart).
Step three: Bring the wrong sides together and then sew the sides and bottom with a 1/4" seam. Turn right side out.Iron
Step four: Cut 2 pieces of ribbon about 10 inches long and using a blunt end needle insert the first ribbon into the 1/4 inch casing * work your way around coming out on the same side and tie an overhand knot.
With the second ribbon enter from the opposite side and repeat being very careful to stay free from the first ribbon already in the casing.
- You will be making a hole in the fabric with the needle

This is a great idea with the bag tutorial, thanks! And I'm sure many others agree with me. The packaging is very important. No jewelry should leave the artist without one of those bags! :) Having tags on your jewelry falls into the presentation category as well, maybe you read my article on that? :) http://byzarah.com/the-power-of-the-finishing-touch
You're crafty like my mom was. Those are so pretty. I like to do crafts but I have to make time around my writing and day job.
This will have to be my next craft project. Thanks!
Cute bags. Looks simple. My problem is getting a sewing machine to like me. I no longer own one but would like a simple cheap one if any suggestions? The problem I have is the bobber thread is always tighter than the top thread. Not matter how I adjust it.
Thanks for the sharing. I will feature your tips at www.handmade-jewelry-club.com and www.diylessons.ning.com. Cheers
